We've gathered the most common questions about Flow3 eye assessment — the essential first step for anyone considering laser eye surgery at KSA Silmakeskus. Whether you're curious about the process, eligibility, or what to expect, optometrist Jana Randii answers them all below.
Why do I need such a thorough eye assessment?
The Flow3 assessment exists to gather detailed, accurate information about your eyes and vision. These results tell us whether you're a suitable candidate for Flow3 laser surgery — or whether another solution, like ICB lens replacement, might suit you better.
Who is the Flow3 assessment designed for?
We welcome anyone planning to have Flow3 laser surgery with us. Generally, candidates are aged 18–45 with myopia (short-sightedness) and/or astigmatism. If you fall outside these parameters, we'll discuss other options with you.
I've heard KSA's assessment is the most thorough in town. What exactly gets measured?
You've heard correctly. We're equipped with cutting-edge, specialist technology that provides comprehensive insight into your eye health and vision. During assessment, we measure:
- Precise refraction (your eye's focusing power)
- Visual acuity
- Eye pressure
- Corneal mapping
- Retinal and optic nerve evaluation
- Multiple vision function tests
- Visual field testing (when indicated)
This level of detail is why we can confidently recommend the right procedure — or rule out laser surgery if it's not safe for you.
Will the assessment be uncomfortable? Will it hurt?
No. The Flow3 assessment is completely painless and safe. Patients often find it fascinating — you'll learn far more about your eyes than you ever knew before. It's thorough, yes, but never unpleasant.
I have an appointment. What do I need to know before I arrive?
A few important things:
Contact lenses: Stop wearing them at least 10 days before your assessment. Bring your glasses and your current glasses prescription instead.
Hormonal changes: If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, we ask that you wait at least 3–4 months after these periods before booking assessment. Hormonal fluctuations can affect eye measurements.
Makeup: You can wear eye makeup, but be aware it may smudge slightly during testing. No problem — just something to know.
I wear false lashes. Will they interfere?
No. False lashes won't affect your assessment or your Flow3 procedure. Come as you are.
My eyes are red, itchy, and watery. I think I have an infection. Can I still come?
Please wait. Your eyes need to be healthy for an accurate assessment. Treat the infection first, then schedule your visit. We're happy to work around your healing timeline.
I've never had glasses, but my vision feels like it's getting worse. Can I still have an assessment?
Absolutely. The assessment works regardless of whether you've worn glasses before. We'll measure your current vision and determine what's changed — and whether you're suitable for laser correction.
