Flow3 laser eye surgery: a videographer's story

Siim Kristjan, a freelance videographer, recently ditched his glasses—and the contact lenses he'd relied on for years—thanks to the Flow3 laser procedure at KSA Silmakeskus. His story is particularly close to our hearts: for the past five years, Siim has been behind the camera for nearly every KSA video, capturing the inspiring stories of our patients as they rediscovered clear vision. Now it was his turn.
From hobby to profession: 10+ years without clear sight
Simm started filming videos more than a decade ago—a hobby that began with a passion for cars and motorsport events. "Quality was pretty rough at first," he recalls, "but the videos got good feedback. One thing led to another, and today it's my full-time job."
But for all those years behind the camera, there was one thing he couldn't see clearly: his own life without visual aids.
Glasses in public, contacts under pressure
Simm was blunt about the daily reality: "I hated wearing glasses in public. I wore contacts whenever I could."
But contacts came with their own baggage. He had myopia and astigmatism, which meant toric lenses—the expensive, high-maintenance kind. "There was constant logistics," he explains. "I had to remember when to order new lenses because my prescription took longer to arrive. I had to keep track of hygiene, wear duration, all of it."
The system broke down regularly. "I'd often get sloppy with contact lens care, and it always came back to bite me. I remember days filming at drift events—dust, sun, tire smoke everywhere—and by evening my eyes were red and itchy."

Easier than a dental checkup
Over five years of filming at KSA, Siim had watched dozens of patients describe how life-changing the procedure was. The testimonials were genuine—people genuinely excited about their newfound freedom. We asked him: did watching all those success stories make him think about surgery?
"Honestly, I've been thinking about laser eye surgery since I got glasses in primary school," he said. "I was just waiting for the right moment, when I could afford it. Filming KSA videos gave me the confidence that I wanted to do it here."
What tipped the balance wasn't emotion—it was information. Over the years, Siim had filmed detailed explainers about laser technology and the Flow3 procedure itself. By the time he came in for his eye assessment, he was as informed as a patient could be.

Why Flow3?
Flow3 is a flapless surface laser procedure—no corneal flap, no cutting. That matters if you're active. Siim films in demanding environments: outdoors, in dust, at events where contacts would fail him. Flow3 has no restrictions on sports or physical work. Recovery is about a week.
The procedure itself took minutes. "It was simpler than a dental checkup," he said afterward.
The verdict
Simm can now film without thinking about his vision. No glasses to fall off. No contacts to dry out or get infected. Just clear sight, all day.
For someone who spent a decade capturing other people's vision breakthroughs, it felt due.
