Flow3 Laser Recovery: Timeline & Aftercare Instructions
Laser vision correction is a wonderful way to permanently improve your eyesight quickly. However, since it's a procedure involving one of the body's most complex organs, we need to give your eyes proper time to heal. How much patience will you need, and what should you keep in mind to ensure the smoothest, fastest recovery possible?
Is Recovery from Laser Surgery Painful?
You won't experience pain during or immediately after the procedure. In fact, you'll likely feel remarkably good right after surgery. However, over the next few days, you may notice mild discomfort: your eyes might water, feel gritty, or itch slightly. Generally, this discomfort is subtle and feels like mild dryness—easily managed with lubricating eye drops.
How Long Does Recovery Take?
Remember: post-procedure care is just as important as the procedure itself. Your cornea has excellent natural healing ability, and when we allow your eyes to rest properly, recovery happens quickly. The exact recovery timeline varies individually, depending on the type of procedure, your age, overall health, and personal factors. Since your eyes are separate organs, recovery speed may differ slightly between them if procedures are performed separately.
After the procedure. Once you open your eyes, you'll be delighted to notice your vision has already improved noticeably—but your eyes remain sensitive and need rest. We'll arrange a taxi home for you, or you can ask a friend to drive you. For the following days, avoid rubbing your eyes or exposing them to dust, water, or foreign objects.
The first few days. Your vision may be blurry initially, so we recommend resting and keeping your eyes closed as much as possible. You might feel a sand-like sensation or mild scratchiness, and your eyes may tear. To ensure rapid recovery, avoid screens for the first 24 hours and use lubricating drops regularly. Choose gentle activities that don't strain your eyes—leisurely walks, audiobooks, podcasts, or music are ideal.
Days 4, 5, and 6. By day 4 or 5, you should feel significantly better and can gradually return to normal activities. Light screen time and reading are acceptable on these days, though we still recommend favoring less demanding activities.
One week after surgery. At your one-week follow-up appointment, we'll check your healing progress and remove your protective contact lenses. After lens removal, your life returns to normal—with one major difference: your eyes are healthier and your vision is sharper. While final vision stabilization can take a few months, by one week post-procedure you're cleared to resume virtually everything.
The Flow3 procedure's flapless design means faster healing and makes it ideal if you're active in sports or outdoor activities. Your eyes will thank you for the care you give them during recovery.
