Flow3 Recovery: What to Expect After Laser Eye Surgery

30. July 2025

Laser eye surgery is a remarkable way to permanently improve your vision fast. But because it involves one of the body's most delicate organs, we need to give your eyes time to heal properly. How much patience should you expect? And what matters most for a smooth, quick recovery?

Is laser eye surgery painful?

No. You won't feel pain during the procedure or afterwards. Most patients feel fine immediately after. Over the next few days, you might notice mild discomfort: watery eyes, a slight grittiness, a bit of itching. This is normal and typically feels like mild dryness—easily managed with lubricating eye drops.

How long does recovery take?

Here's what matters: post-procedure care is just as important as the procedure itself. Your cornea has excellent natural healing ability. If you let your eyes rest properly, recovery happens fast. That said, timing varies. It depends on the Flow3 procedure type, your age, general health, and individual factors. And since your eyes are separate organs, if we treat them on different days, healing can progress at slightly different rates—just like nature works.

Right after the procedure

When you open your eyes, you'll notice vision has already improved noticeably. But your eyes are still delicate and need rest. We'll arrange a taxi home for you, or you can ask a friend to drive. For the first few days, avoid rubbing your eyes or letting dust, water, or debris in. That's non-negotiable.

The first few days

Vision will be blurry initially. Rest and keep your eyes closed as much as possible. You might feel that gritty sensation or notice tearing. To support fast healing, avoid screens for 24 hours and use lubricating drops regularly. Choose gentle activities: a quiet walk, audiobooks, podcasts, music. Nothing that strains your eyes.

Days four through six

You should feel noticeably better by day four and five. Life begins to feel normal again. Light screen time and reading are okay now—but still favor activities that don't demand heavy eye focus.

One week after surgery

You'll come in for your first check-up. We'll assess healing and remove your protective contact lenses. After that, your life returns to exactly what it was—except for one crucial difference: sharper vision and healthier eyes. Final vision stabilisation takes a few weeks at most, but one week post-procedure, you can do virtually everything. Most patients report that life-changing clarity from day one.
