Flow3 Laser Eye Surgery: Optometrist's Real Experience

Optometrists and eye doctors often recommend getting rid of glasses, yet continue wearing them themselves. KSA Silmakeskus optometrist Liisi Toom, however, underwent the Flow laser procedure — and now she too enjoys the good life that comes with clear vision.

Why did an optometrist decide on a laser procedure?

Optometrist Liisi Toom admits that when she worked in an optical shop and was constantly surrounded by glasses, she didn't give much thought to giving them up. But after joining KSA Silmakeskus, she began to think about how much more convenient and carefree her life would be with good vision.

"Quite a few patients asked why I still wore glasses if the Flow laser procedure was so good. Now I can share my own experience with patients and understand their feelings even better," says Liisi, who had to wait before having the procedure until her vision had stabilised.

How did the laser procedure go?

According to Liisi, the laser procedure was quick and took place in a pleasant atmosphere, and her life is now considerably more carefree. No more fussing with glasses or contact lenses, and no more feeling of strain in her eyes!

"Before, I constantly had to think about when I needed to take my lenses out; whether I had all the supplies packed for a trip; and where to put my glasses so they wouldn't get broken or lost," the optometrist recalls. She was one of those people who never really liked glasses, but whose eyes also didn't tolerate contact lenses well. "The Flow laser procedure was exactly the right option for improving my vision and getting rid of glasses!" she says.

Why the Flow laser procedure specifically?

Being familiar with the various methods for getting rid of glasses, she carefully weighed which one to choose. Because the Flow procedure carries fewer risks, she decided in favour of this laser procedure.

"I also liked knowing that I would have no lifestyle restrictions in the future and could take part in all kinds of extreme activities. Some other methods do impose certain limitations for later in life."

Life after the laser procedure

Liisi's vision is now sharp, and she can enjoy the small pleasures of everyday life. She gives the example that now, when she wakes up in the morning, her sight is immediately clear and crisp — an important moment when starting the day.

"On top of that, I now enjoy watching television while lying down, because I couldn't do that before — my glasses would dig in. Hugging people is also much more carefree and comfortable now; glasses no longer get in the way!"
