25 Years in Glasses—Now I See Like an Eagle

From Blurred Vision to Crystal-Clear Sight
I got my first pair of minus glasses in third grade. For the next 25 years, I experienced the world either blurry, through spectacle lenses, or via contact lenses. I visited KSA Silmakeskus last October. Today, I see as sharply as an eagle.
It's one of the best decisions of my life. That's why I decided to document my laser journey—to record my experience step by step and share it with others.
What Made Me Book an Appointment?
My work in communications means long hours staring at screens. My eyes tired constantly. Lubricating eye drops became part of my daily routine.
Beyond work, being an active person meant glasses and lenses were always a hassle. They'd fog up in the sauna. They'd slide down my nose during yoga. But the final straw came last year in Asia. During a surf lesson, I lost a lens in the ocean. I had to abandon my class, rush home to grab a spare pair, and then stand blindly at a busy crossing, hoping I wouldn't get hit by a car if I crossed without seeing properly.
That moment changed everything. I thought: Enough. I booked an eye exam.

Why I Decided to Keep a Diary
Laser eye surgery has been on my mind for the past 10 years. The reason I waited so long: fear.
My biggest fear was pain during surgery. I vividly imagined a surgeon wielding a scalpel inside my eye, or cutting it in half like in the film Un Chien Andalou. Then there was the irrational panic: What if I go blind?!
I started Googling. I haunted forums. Then I found a Reddit thread where real patients shared their experiences. I got honest answers to my questions—and that knocked the irrational fear away. It also motivated me to document my own journey so others worried about recovery and costs could benefit from a real account.
Disclaimer: For the first two weeks, I could barely see up close and typing on a computer was impossible. So I handwrote entries on a tablet and recorded voice memos that I transcribed later.
Day Zero: Procedure Day (22.10.24)
Today is the first day after my KSA laser eye surgery. This has been a dream for five years.
It's strange writing by hand after years of typing on screens. I'm documenting my recovery step by step—partly to stay occupied, partly because it might help someone else.
Before surgery, my vision was approximately: Left –4.0, Right –3.5.
During the Procedure
- It was incredibly fast. From lying under the Schwind laser to walking out, the whole thing took about 15 minutes.
- My eyes watered constantly. The drops they used were generous—and necessary.
- Dr. Ants was calm and reassuring. He kept wiping away the tears before each laser pulse, talking me through every step.
Here's what surprised me: there was no pain. None. I felt pressure and a very mild sensation, but nothing that hurt. The fear I'd carried for a decade evaporated in those 15 minutes.
After the procedure, they gave me dark glasses and strict instructions: rest, avoid screens, use prescribed drops every hour. My eyes felt gritty—like sand under the eyelids—but nothing unbearable.
That evening, I couldn't see anything clearly beyond arm's length. The world was a soft blur. But I wasn't panicked. I just slept.
Why This Matters
If you've been considering Flow3 laser eye surgery, you probably have the same questions I did. Is it safe? Does it hurt? How long is recovery? Can you really see normally again?
The answers, from my experience: yes, no, faster than you'd think, and absolutely.
What convinced me most wasn't the clinic's credentials or the 55,000+ procedures KSA has performed. It wasn't even Dr. Ants Haavel's 20+ years of experience—though all of that matters.
It was this: the entire clinical team at KSA chose Flow3 for their own eyes.
That told me everything. These are surgeons who know every available technology, every competitor, every risk. They picked Flow3 for themselves. For their families. That's not marketing. That's conviction.
If you're tired of glasses, done with contact lenses slipping out during a surf lesson, or simply ready for sharper vision—reach out. Book a consultation. Ask the questions that worry you. Get honest answers from people who've done this thousands of times.
Your vision deserves it.
