From Glasses to Freedom: Nele-Maria's Flow3 Journey

Nele-Maria is 27, currently based in Taiwan, but her life reads like a travel guidebook. Two years in Thailand during secondary school. University in the UK. Three years in China. And now, between stints across Southeast Asia and South America, she stops home in Estonia. She's spent roughly half her life on the move—and for most of it, she did it in glasses.

How does a life like that even work?

She laughs when you ask. The answer, she says, is simple: she let life carry her. She said yes to opportunities. When a scholarship offer came for an international school in Thailand at 16, she took it. That decision opened everything else.

"After university, I wanted to go to China, but I got scared," she remembers. "So I came back to Estonia instead. I worked, spent time with family." By then, she'd already been away for five years. After a quiet spell—festivals across Europe, a bit of a bohemian phase—the pull to travel returned. And eventually, with her best friend already there, she finally made it to China.

Three years in China were formative. She studied Mandarin at university, worked as a model. "It was creative, fun, and it paid well," she says. "I even got some local recognition." The work wasn't intellectually demanding, but it gave her time and money to invest in herself. After two years, though, she'd had enough. Time for the next chapter.

There was one problem: her glasses had become a real limitation.

The safest option felt right

"I researched different eye surgery methods," Nele-Maria explains. "And I kept coming back to Flow3—the flapless approach just seemed safest."

She could have chosen a cheaper option. But then she visited KSA Silmakeskus, and something shifted. "The clinic's atmosphere was different. One of the optometrists spoke about working there with such genuine passion. I could tell she wasn't selling me a procedure for the money—she actually believed in it." That authenticity mattered. If the people performing her surgery trusted this method enough for their own eyes, that was worth more than any discount elsewhere.

"I realized I wanted the best for my eyes. And my gut told me safety mattered more than saving money."

So she booked the procedure.

The world became clear

"I only had a mild prescription—around -2—but I was shocked at how much glasses were limiting me," she says. "After the procedure, when I could finally see clearly without them... I jumped up and down in pure joy. The world was just sharp." Recovery took about a week. Then, with clear vision and full confidence, she packed a backpack and headed to South America.

Peru. Colombia. Ecuador. Months of travel, hiking, exploring—all without the anxiety of managing glasses in unpredictable conditions. "It was such a carefree, joyful time. I could just experience life fully."

That's the thing about vision correction that often gets overlooked. It's not just about seeing better. It's about the freedom to live the way you want, without compromise.

Nele-Maria's choice to invest in Flow3 gave her exactly that—the confidence to chase the next adventure, wherever it leads.
