Juhani Särglep: Vision for a Life Without Borders

Life on the Road: Paradise as a Daily Reality
Palm trees. White sand beaches. Turquoise lagoons stretching to the horizon. For most of us, this is a holiday fantasy. For Juhani Särglep and his fiancée Katri Palm, it's Tuesday.
These two Estonians have turned their wanderlust into a way of life. Juhani is a video artist and photographer—the kind who's built a career around movement, discovery, and chasing light across the world's most remote corners. On their feed, you'll find them waking up in Mauritius one day, surfing in the Maldives the next, then dancing in Ibiza before heading to Barcelona for city life.
"We're constantly moving, always finding new places," Juhani explains. "One morning you're in the Indian Ocean, the next you're somewhere completely different."
But there's a problem that comes with a life like this—one that most travellers face, and few talk about.
The Contact Lens Trap
For years, Juhani was myopic. He'd never been comfortable in glasses—they felt restrictive, cumbersome, wrong. Contact lenses seemed like the answer. And they were, until his lifestyle demanded something better.
"My work requires constant travel and very early mornings," he says. "Putting in contact lenses first thing in the morning became this unnecessary, daily friction. Not a deal-breaker on its own, but uncomfortable. Always uncomfortable."
The real problem hit him during a shoot in the Maldives. Juhani and Katri had been commissioned to film for an exclusive resort—if the first video succeeded, they'd be invited back to shoot at five more luxury properties across the islands.
The Dolphin Incident
One dawn, they decided to capture footage of dolphins. Juhani hadn't put in his lenses that morning.
"Everything was a bit blurry, but I didn't think much of it," he recalls. A large pod appeared. He jumped into the water with his camera, weaving between 40 or 50 dolphins, hunting for the perfect shot.
Then he felt something bump his legs.
He spun around and saw a dark shape at the water's edge. Before his mind could process what it was, a canoe smacked him in the head. Inside: two very confused Chinese tourists.
"I laughed it off and headed back to the boat," Juhani says with a grin. "I grabbed my drone because the moment with the dolphins had been incredible. I filmed everything—it was all a bit blurry, and I couldn't really see the drone, but it didn't seem like a big problem at the time."
As the drone ventured farther out, it started beeping. The battery was dying. A blurry situation got worse: Juhani couldn't navigate it back precisely. The drone was lost at sea.
"That's when it clicked," he says. "I needed a real solution."
Finding Clarity
Back in Tallinn, Juhani started researching vision correction options. Glasses were still off the table. Regular LASIK meant a longer recovery and more restrictions on water sports and diving—activities that define his work.
Then he discovered Flow3.
Flow3 is flapless surface laser surgery—no corneal flap, which means faster healing, fewer complications, and no restrictions on water sports or diving. Recovery is roughly one week. For someone whose life depends on being active and mobile, it was the obvious choice.
Juhani had the procedure done at KSA Silmakeskus in Tallinn under Dr. Ants Haavel, who has performed over 55,000 procedures. The clinic's own clinical team chose Flow3 for their own vision—a detail that speaks volumes about trust.
"The recovery was straightforward," Juhani confirms. "Within days, I was back to normal. No glasses, no lenses, no morning ritual. Just wake up and see."
Life Without Friction
Today, Juhani's life hasn't changed—but his experience of it has. He still wakes up in different countries. Still shoots in dawn light and rough waters. Still dives and swims and moves constantly.
The difference is invisible. No contacts to lose. No blurry mornings. No unnecessary daily compromises.
"Clear vision is something you only miss when you don't have it," he reflects. "Now I do."
For active people—whether they're world travellers, athletes, or anyone who values spontaneity and freedom—Flow3 offers a vision solution designed for real life, not around it.
Juhani and Katri are still out there, still discovering, still creating. And now, he's seeing every moment clearly.
